The National Junior Honor Society is one of the oldest and most respected student recognition organizations in the United States. Membership in NJHS distinguishes students who have committed themselves to the pursuit of academic excellence, community improvement, and personal development.  Students are invited based on his or her academic grades over the past year at Shepherd Middle School. NJHS members are young people working to make change in their schools and communities.  NJHS is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students at SMS.

What is NJHS?

Our organization offers senior scholarships for students that actively participated in NJHS as middle school students. We present qualified students with these scholarships at the scholarship banquet in May of each year.

Our NJHS members participate in 25 hours of community service per student per year. You will see our students helping out at churches, schools, and local businesses year round.
